My Linnea Lund : Sergio Machado

My Linnea Lund : Sergio Machado

Every week, we invite a woman or a man from the Linnea Lund community to talk about their relationship with clothing, their wardrobe, and how they like to mix and match our iconic cashmere pieces. This time, it is Sergio Machado, textile designer and founder of the agency Le Petit Bureau, who is the #MyLinneaLund man of the week!
Sergio Machado is a world traveler who has journeyed across the globe. He has collected destinations and immortalized his "favorite" escapades with souvenirs that now populate his Parisian apartment perched on the famous hill of Montmartre. An iconic neighborhood where Van Gogh's walks still echo and the bohemian spirit of Picasso lingers. This neighborhood has found a perfect match in this insatiable globetrotter and artist at heart, who also loves to retreat to his Petit Bureau, his creative space nestled in his apartment, where he cuts, glues, assembles, layers, draws, and envisions the prints of tomorrow.

Envisioning the future of fashion, Sergio Machado did this for a long time at the trend agency led by the visionary editor and Dutch fashion authority, Lidewij Edelkoort, where he served as the artistic director at Trend Union. It was there that he met Charlotte, for whom Linnea Lund was just an embryonic project at the time. During those years with Edelkoort, they both inherited what would become their shared vision of fashion, a philosophy opposing fast fashion: durable clothes cared for with love. Basics that disregard trends.

Pieces that are passed down because they are built to last. In life, Sergio Machado follows his heart, travels, and serendipitous encounters. Inevitably, from this free-spirited mindset emerged a style without dogma or constraint. His wardrobe is eclectic. It responds solely to the desires dictated by the heart's whims. If he loves it, he wears it! And Sergio Machado adores the simple and timeless wardrobe of Linnea Lund, whose pieces are "delightful to wear," as he tells us.

Amidst his collages, his collection of world objects, and his DVDs, Sergio Machado opens the doors to his living space and his Petit Bureau for us. That day, he chose to wear our Mimmi crew neck sweater to talk to us about his travels, his creations, and the Linnea Lund pieces he loves.

How would you define your style?
I am like my Petit Bureau! I don't have a defined style; I wear things I love, things dear to me. It's eclectic but very basic.

What is your favorite color in the Linnea Lund palette?
I love all the colors of Linnea Lund. I like navy blue, ecru, camel, gray... and other basic colors that go with everything.

In your eyes, what objects represent Sweden?
My Swedish rugs that I bought in Denmark, handmade in the 1950s from fabric scraps. They are beautiful, both for the range of colors and the modernity of the patterns. I love them!

What is your favorite piece in your wardrobe/apartment?
It's my library because it has many things that inspire me: my collection of books and my collection of DVDs. It's a comfortable and cozy space.
