Each week we invite a woman or man from the Linnea Lund community to talk about their relationship to clothes, their wardrobe and how they like to mix and match our signature cashmere pieces. This time, it's Sergio Machado, textile designer and founder of the Le Petit Bureau agency, who is the #MyLinneaLund man of the week!
Sergio Machado is a world traveler who has traveled all over the globe. He collected destinations and immortalized his "favorite" getaways with memorabilia that now populates his Parisian apartment perched on the famous Montmartre hill. An emblematic district from which the strolls of Van Gogh still escape and still infuse the bohemian spirit of Picasso. A neighborhood that's found everything for this insatiable globetrotter and artist at heart who also likes to take refuge in his Petit Bureau, his creative space nestled in his apartment, where he cuts, glues, assembles, superimposes, draws and imagines the prints of tomorrow.
Imagining the future of fashion, Sergio Machado did it for a long time for the trend cabinet run by the visionary editor and Dutch fashion popess, Lidewij Edelkoort, for whom he was artistic director at Trend Union. It is also there that he crosses paths with Charlotte for whom, at this time, Linnea Lund is still only an embryonic project. During these Edelkoort years, they both inherited what would constitute their common vision of fashion, a philosophy that goes against fast-fashion: durable clothes that you take care of because you love them. Basics that don't care about trends.
Pieces that we pass on because they have the quality to last. In life, Sergio Machado follows love at first sight, travels and chance encounters. Inevitably, from this fluttering spirit was born a style without dogma, without injunction. His dressing room is eclectic. It responds to desires that are dictated only by calls from the heart. If he loves, he wears! And Sergio Machado loves Linnea Lund's simple, timeless wardrobe, whose pieces are "delicious to wear," he tells us.
And it is in the middle of his collages, his collection of worldly objects and his DVDs, that he opens up his place of life and his Petit Bureau to us. That day, he chose to wear our Mimmi round neck sweater to tell us about his travels, his creations and the Linnea Lund pieces he loves.
How would you define your style?
I'm like my Petit Bureau! I have no style, I wear things that I like, that are dear to my heart. It's eclectic but very basic.
What is your favorite color from the Linnea Lund palette?
I love all Linnea Lund colors. I like navy blue, ecru, camel, grey… and more basic colors that go with everything.
In your eyes, what objects represent Sweden?
My Swedish carpets that I bought in Denmark, handmade, in the 1950s, from scraps of fabric. It's super beautiful, whether it's the range of colors and the modernity of the graphics. I like !
Which room in your dressing room/or your apartment is your favorite?
It's my library because there are a lot of things that inspire me: there's my collection of books and my collection of DVDs. It is a cozy and comfortable space.
