FAQ

CASHMERE & QUALITY

What makes Linnea Lund cashmere unique?

Our cashmere yarns originate from artisanal farms in Mongolia, where goats are exclusively combed (never shaved) to harvest the purest, most durable, and softest fiber possible. Out of respect for animal welfare, the goats' precious down is only collected once winter has passed, when the goats no longer need this protective layer. However, this exceptional raw material, both warm and resilient, would be nothing without world-renowned Italian craftsmanship. Indeed, another distinct feature of Linnea Lund is our 100% Italian manufacturing. From spinning to re-linking, through to knitting, every step is carried out in the Marche region by our partner workshops, all of which are human-scale, family-run businesses.

Can cashmere be worn in all seasons?

Yes, cashmere can be worn year-round because it is a natural, thermoregulating fiber that keeps you warm in winter and allows your skin to breathe in summer, offering a highly comfortable second-skin feel. At Linnea Lund, we offer several cashmere thicknesses and different knitting styles to suit your tastes and needs throughout the year!

What are your essential “signature” knits?

All our cashmere knits are of exceptional quality, featuring different yarn thicknesses. The two most popular are the "Stockholm" knit, a generous 2-ply cashmere perfect for wrapping yourself in softness all winter long; and the "Malmö" knit, a finer and lighter cashmere ideal for warmer days and shoulder seasons. Each is named after a city in Sweden, paying homage to the brand's Swedish soul.

Why is Linnea Lund cashmere considered premium quality?

Linnea Lund cashmere garments are crafted from superior-quality yarn made from long goat fibers. These fibers are gently gathered using a comb, preserving the full length of the hair from root to tip. This length of down provides ample material when transforming fiber into yarn, resulting in a dense, robust, and durable cashmere yarn that resists pilling. Another feature defining the excellence of Linnea Lund cashmere is the way our knits are crafted. At Linnea Lund, the knitting is dense and tight, giving our garments their lasting quality, soft feel, and cozy warmth. The more plies, the denser, thicker, and warmer the knit.

Where does your cashmere come from?

We make it a point of honor to ensure complete transparency in the traceability of our cashmere. Linnea Lund cashmere is crafted from premium-quality yarn sourced from the undercoat of goats respectfully raised in Mongolia by herders who share our values.

Animal welfare is a priority at Linnea Lund. Therefore, it is only in spring, once the deep cold has passed, that our partner herders gather, by hand and with a comb, the precious down the animal naturally sheds at this time of year. It is the finest and warmest fiber available.

As Mongolian tradition dictates: only the naturally shedding coat is gathered, leaving the rest on the animal. Gently combing the goats rather than shaving them ensures the animals' well-being and guarantees the quality of the collected fiber, which is longer and better suited for spinning.

In Italy, near Mount Petrano, the down is entrusted to our partner spinning mill, a family-run business (certified by the Sustainable Fibre Alliance, Good Cashmere Standard, GOTS, ISO 14001, and ISO 45001) which turns it into a robust, soft, and durable yarn. This superior quality forms the beauty of our knits.

Where are all your cashmere items made?

Linnea Lund garments are made entirely in Italy across several family-owned workshops, including one we have partnered with since the brand was founded. Every day, these artisanal workshops apply their ancestral craftsmanship to our creations, which have grown in complexity over the years. Over time, we have built relationships of trust and friendship with these highly skilled artisans who contribute to the excellence of our knits.

Meanwhile, our cotton shirts are made in the Paris region.

Why does Linnea Lund talk about “ethically sourced cashmere”?

From harvesting to re-linking, spinning, and knitting, every Linnea Lund piece is created with respect for living beings. Our production is based on a made-on-demand system, meaning we only make what is ordered, nothing more, nothing less. This approach is guided by a core conviction: a superior-quality Linnea Lund cashmere garment is a precious item, and buying it is an investment. Where a cheap knit won't last a single season, a Linnea Lund wardrobe lasts a lifetime. For us, it is also about championing a more mindful and sustainable fashion industry by helping everyone buy less, but better. Choosing quality over quantity when getting dressed is, indeed, a conscious act!

What does your B Corp certification mean?

B Corp is an international certification awarded to companies operating a fair and regenerative economy that adheres to high social and environmental standards. It is neither a label you can buy nor a claim you can self-declare: it is verified by an independent entity, B Lab, and must be renewed every three years.

CASHMERE CARE

Does Linnea Lund cashmere itch?

Not at all! It is actually one of the softest, most comfortable, and silky materials available.

Can Linnea Lund pieces be machine washed?

Yes, with the exception of our cashmere and silk blend pieces, which must be hand-washed.

Discover all our cashmere care secrets right here.

Does Linnea Lund cashmere pill?

The exceptional quality of our yarns and the dense, tight knit of our garments ensure high durability, which minimizes pilling.

Do you need a special detergent to wash cashmere clothes?

It is recommended, and we even offer one made in Sweden specially formulated to care for your knits and preserve their luster, which you can discover right here.

How do I protect my cashmere from moths?

There are a few simple habits to adopt, such as washing your cashmere garments before storing them to remove dirt and organic residues that attract moths. Use gentle, natural, and effective repellents like cedar balls or sachets of lavender, cloves, or thyme. Keep your garments in a dry, well-ventilated place away from heat and moisture. Don't leave your sweaters sitting in your wardrobe, wear your knits as often as you like!

MADE TO ORDER & LEAD TIMES

Are all pieces in stock?

No, not all items are available immediately because our manufacturing relies on a virtuous production model: "made to order." Your piece is crafted once your order is confirmed. This is our way of combating overproduction and waste, as we only produce what is ordered, nothing more, nothing less.

That said, for those who prefer not to wait, we keep a small inventory of iconic styles in our most popular colors, in very limited quantities.

This "in-stock" collection is available in our boutiques and directly online right here.

What is the difference between "In stock" and "Pre-order / Made to order"?

"In-stock" items are available immediately and shipped within 24 to 72 business hours, while "made-to-order" items are specially crafted for you upon order confirmation and shipped within 3 weeks.

How long does it take to receive a “pre-order” item?

Once your order is confirmed, the item is crafted and shipped within 3 weeks.

Do you offer fully custom-made clothing?

Yes! Depending on your preferences, taste, and style, we can create a fully custom, made-to-measure piece. This bespoke service (provided upon request for a quote) can be arranged in either of our two Paris boutiques or in our showroom.

Please note: made-to-measure items are final sale (no returns, exchanges, or refunds).

Do you offer alterations?

Yes, we can shorten or lengthen sleeves or the body of a garment by up to 5 cm, or adjust its width, for €50 per alteration.

Please note: altered items are final sale (no returns, exchanges, or refunds).

Can certain pieces be embroidered?

Yes, select items such as our bandanas, Maya collars, and throws can be customized with embroidery.

You can choose your text, thread color, and font style directly at checkout. Embroidery costs €15.

Would you like embroidery on an item where the option isn't displayed? Contact us at info@linnealund.com.

Please note: embroidered items are final sale (no returns, exchanges, or refunds).

SIZES

How to choose the perfect size?

An intelligent recommendation tool is available for each item. Based on your measurements, it automatically calculates your ideal size. Simply click the "What's my size?" button on any product page. Alternatively, a detailed size chart is available on every product page under "Size & Fit."

That said, feel free to experiment: choose a size up for an oversized look, or size down on an oversized cut for a more structured fit. Have fun with it!

Are size charts available?

Yes, every product page includes a size chart under "Size & Fit." Please note that because our garments are handcrafted using traditional methods, slight variations of 1 to 2 cm may occur from one piece to another.

Are your styles unisex?

Yes, some of our styles are unisex. You can spot them by the yellow badge on the product page stating "Unisex style, refer to size guide." Click "What's my size?" or check the size chart to find your perfect fit!

What is a Frukost?

Frukost means "breakfast" in Swedish, but at Linnea Lund, it is much more than that... It represents moments of sharing, gathering, conversation, and togetherness around Swedish treats: kanelbullar, pastries, coffee, and juice. It is Charlotte's (the founder of Linnea Lund) way of introducing you to Swedish culture and values through hospitality. Frukost events take place several Thursdays a month at Place de Furstemberg, right outside our boutique. To ensure a welcoming experience, space is limited and reservations are required.
