My Linnea Lund : Kim Laursen

My Linnea Lund : Kim Laursen

Each week, we invite a woman or a man from the Linnea Lund community to talk about their relationship with fashion, their wardrobe, and how they like to mix our iconic cashmere pieces. This time, it's Kim Laursen, a colorful stylist who has worked for Maison Christian Lacroix, who is the man of the week #MyLinneaLund!

This energetic Dane worked for a long time in prestigious haute couture houses before finding his independence. But before delving into his creative universe, let's go back in time... It's 1990, and Kim Laursen leaves his beloved Denmark for another promised land he equally loves: Paris! The era is marked by wild graffiti and street culture infused with hip-hop, dotted with groups already shaping a new era of creations from the suburbs and underground influences, while "Edward Scissorhands" piques our curiosity for Tim Burton's cinema and the infectious smiles of the charming Julia Roberts and a lost Richard Gere on Hollywood Boulevard.

But let's rewind. So, in 1990, Kim Laursen joins Christian Lacroix's Maison de l'Arlésien, founded three years earlier. Here, in a baroque spirit tinted with a thousand vibrant colors, amid floral prints and puffed sleeves, the stylist hones his skills, refines his knowledge of materials, cultivates his taste for eclecticism, and shapes his joyful and generous chromatic palette. Later came Cacharel, Kenzo, and many other creators for whom Kim expresses his colorful originality and creativity. This uniqueness is immediately apparent when you linger over the pieces in his wardrobe.

At home, classic camel and navy blue blend with bolder shades and varied prints. His style consists of basic pieces to which he always adds a touch of whimsy. Like Lacroix, he appreciates patchwork spirit and vivid, intense reds. Amidst his Scandinavian memories and beloved French ceramic objects, Kim Laursen opens the doors of his Montmartre apartment, which he still shares with his partner Sergio Machado. On that day, Kim chose to wear Linnea Lund's camel version of our Edward round neck sweater to talk about his career as a stylist, his creations, and the Linnea Lund pieces he cherishes.

How would you define your style?
It's quite colorful and eclectic.

What is your favorite color from the Linnea Lund palette?
I really like camel because I think it goes with everything; I also like navy blue. But I'm someone who can also go for fuchsia pink or orange. I'm not afraid of flashy colors.

In your opinion, what objects represent Sweden?
Since my childhood, I've always had the painted Dalécarlie horses, which come in four different colors: red, navy blue, black, or white. Today, they're in my country house in Denmark. When I was little, I also had clogs. And then there's the red color, Swedish red from country houses, the most beautiful red to me.

What is your favorite piece in your wardrobe/apartment?
I really like French furniture and ceramics that I've come across.

When I say cashmere, what do you think of?
It's cozy, comforting, soft, and beautiful—everything I find at Linnea Lund.
