Each week, we invite a woman or man from the Linnea Lund community to talk about their relationship with clothes, their wardrobe and how they like to mix and match our iconic cashmere pieces. This time, British artist and illustrator Willemien Bardawil is this week's #MyLinneaLund personality!
We don't know if her pretty first name is a nod to one of Vincent Van Gogh's sisters, but it's a foretaste of her artistic soul. Between London and Paris, Willemien Bardawil makes a living from her illustrations and hand-painted ceramics, each more cheerful and flowery than the last. The brushstrokes of this Londoner, now Parisian, reveal an obvious love of Picasso's drawings and Matisse's shapes and colors. There's also her light, frank and deceptively simple way of celebrating femininity in a heart, a flower or a beautiful bow... An assertively romantic universe in which bright colors speak generously, notably one of her "signature" shades, a gourmand cherry red. Everything is pop and happy, colorful and bright. Just take a look at her first collection of painted ceramics, Angel Delight, which we discovered last year at Le Bon Marché, and some of which are still available on her website ;)
This year, it's at Merci, a cutting-edge lifestyle concept store that's been making a name for itself for over a decade in the Haut-Marais district, that she'll be exhibiting her much-loved creations.
In the meantime, it's in her Parisian atelier, whose walls are adorned with her colorful universe, that she welcomes us to talk about her work, her love of patterns, the notebook that never leaves her and where she deposits her ideas, and the Linnea Lund pieces she's fallen for. Of course, our Edward Cherry Red is one of her favorites!
