FAQ
Cashmere & Quality
What makes Linnea Lund cashmere unique?
Our yarns come from artisanal farms in Mongolia, where the goats are exclusively combed (never sheared) to harvest the purest, most durable, and softest fiber there is, all while respecting animal welfare. But this precious down would be nothing without Italian craftsmanship, the most renowned in the world. Because yes, the uniqueness of Linnea Lund lies in this entirely Italian manufacturing process, from the yarn spinning to the linking, including the knitting which is done within our partner workshops.
Can cashmere be worn in all seasons?
Yes, cashmere can be worn all year round because it is a natural thermoregulating fiber that will keep you warm in the winter, and let your skin breathe in the summer, all while offering you a very comfortable second-skin effect.
At Linnea Lund, we offer several types of cashmere and a variety of knits to suit all your needs.
What are your essential “signature” knits?
Stockholm, a generous 2-ply cashmere, perfect for wrapping yourself in softness all winter long.
Malmö, a finer and lighter 2-ply knit, ideal for warmer days and the mid-season.
What is the difference between 2-ply and 4-ply cashmere?
The ply count refers to the number of strands twisted together to form the knitted yarn:
- 2-ply offers a supple, versatile knit that can be worn comfortably all year round.
- 4-ply is twice as dense, resulting in a thicker, warmer, and highly structured piece; perfect for freezing weather.
We offer different weights (medium, thick, and super thick) as well as lighter cashmere and silk blends.
Where are your pieces made?
In Italy, across several family workshops including the one we have worked with since our very first collection. They knit for Linnea Lund every day, and it is their expertise, alongside that of our other partner ateliers, that allows us to design pieces of this quality, and to make them increasingly complex, season after season. We have woven a close relationship with all the hands that shape our knits, and it is this continuity that makes our work possible. A few pieces follow other paths: our cotton shirts are made in Paris.
Where does your cashmere come from?
Cashmere is the goat’s undercoat—its finest and warmest fiber, which the animal sheds naturally. Every spring in Mongolia, our partner herders harvest it by hand using a comb, following an ancestral method: they collect only what falls, leaving the animal’s coat intact. Combing the goats rather than shearing them yields longer fibers that spin much better and are therefore more durable. Harvesting in the spring, and not before, ensures that the goats stay protected throughout the winter.
A single goat yields at most 250 grams of raw fibre a year. Our Casa blanket therefore represents four years of harvest from one animal. It is slow, but it is the price of genuine traceability and of decent conditions, for the animals as much as for the people.
The fibre then travels to Italy, to Cariaggi, a family spinning mill on the slopes of Monte Petrano, specialised in carding and combing. Our spinning partner is certified by the Sustainable Fibre Alliance and the Good Cashmere Standard, the two frameworks dedicated to the welfare of cashmere goats and the livelihoods of herding communities. It also holds GOTS, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification, and runs entirely on renewable energy.
Is Linnea Lund cashmere ethical?
Ethical cashmere is a fight, and we have been fighting it since day one. From spinning to finishing, every Linnea Lund piece is made with respect for the goats that give the fibre and the Italian artisans who work it. We make only what is ordered: nothing is produced blindly, nothing is discarded. Real cashmere is not a purchase but an investment, where an inexpensive knit gives out within a season, ours lasts a lifetime.
What does your B Corp certification mean?
B Corp is an international certification awarded to companies that meet demanding standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability. Obtaining it means opening every part of the business to independent scrutiny (supply chain, working conditions, governance, environmental impact) and reaching a minimum score across all of them. It is not a label bought or self-declared: it is verified by B Lab, and must be re-earned every three years.
Cashmere care
Does cashmere itch?
Not at all! It is actually one of the softest and silkiest materials there is.
Can Linnea Lund pieces be machine washed?
Yes, with the exception of our cashmere and silk blends which should be hand washed. We share all our care secrets on our Blog.
Does cashmere pill?
This depends on the quality of the yarn and how the knit is crafted. The exceptional quality of our yarns and the dense and compact way our knits are woven guarantee great resistance and strongly limit the appearance of pilling.
Is a special detergent needed?
It is preferable. Our detergent is made in Sweden and formulated to care for the knit and prolong its radiance.
How do I protect cashmere from moths?
Wash your cashmere clothes before storing them away to eliminate dirt and other organic residues that moths feed on. Use effective and natural repellents such as cedar balls, lavender sachets, cloves, or thyme. Keep your clothes in a dry and well-ventilated place, away from heat and moisture. Read our full article on how to effectively protect cashmere from moths.
Made to order & lead times
Are all pieces in stock?
No, all pieces are not in stock, because we are committed to fighting overproduction and waste. This is why we have established a specific production method: a made-to-order system. This allows us to only produce what is necessary.
That being said, for those who don't like to wait, every season we build up a "stock" of a reasonable quantity of iconic models in the most highly requested colors.
This stock is available both in-store and online, via the "IN STOCK / READY TO SHIP COLLECTIONS" tab.
What is the difference between "In stock" and "Pre-order / Made to order"?
"In stock" items are available immediately and shipped within 24 to 72 business hours.
"Pre-order / Made to order" items are crafted especially for you once your order is confirmed.
How long does a pre-order piece take?
When you place an order. The piece is then crafted within 2 to 3 weeks.
Do you offer made-to-measure?
Yes. Beyond made-to-order production, we can partially or fully customize our pieces.
On cashmere sweaters, we can shorten or lengthen sleeves or body length by up to 5 cm, or adjust the width, for €50 per alteration.
We can also create a completely bespoke design, based on one of your favorite sweaters, for example.
These services can be arranged in our Paris boutiques or in our showroom.
Please note that made-to-measure pieces cannot be returned, exchanged or refunded.
Can certain pieces be embroidered?

Are size charts available?

Frukost simply means "breakfast" in Swedish, but at Linnea Lund it means rather more than that. Several Thursdays a month, on morning at 9:30, we set the table at 7 place de Furstemberg and welcome you around a traditional Swedish spread: kanelbullar, pastries, coffee, juices.
Founder Charlotte Björklund inherited her love of hospitality from her father, a chef, and wanted her first Paris boutique to be a place where people gather rather than simply shop.
Places are limited, and booking is essential. Book your Furkost here.
