Each week, we invite a woman or a man from the Linnea Lund community to talk about their relationship with clothing, their wardrobe, and how they like to pair our iconic cashmere pieces. This time, British artist and illustrator Willemien Bardawil is our #MyLinneaLund personality of the week!
We don't know if her lovely name is a nod to one of Vincent Van Gogh's sisters, but it foreshadows her artistic soul. Between London and Paris, Willemien Bardawil makes a living from her illustrations and hand-painted ceramics, each more joyful and floral than the last. The brushstrokes of this Londoner-turned-Parisian reveal a clear love for Picasso's drawings and the shapes and colors of Matisse. There's also her light, candid, and deceptively simple way of celebrating femininity in hearts, flowers, or beautiful bows... A decidedly romantic universe where bright colors generously express themselves, notably one of her "signature" shades, a luscious cherry red. Everything is pop and happy, colorful and bright. Just take a look at her first collection of painted ceramics, Angel Delight, which we discovered last year at Le Bon Marché, some pieces of which are still available on her website ;)
This year, she will exhibit her much-loved creations at Merci, a leading lifestyle concept store that has been making waves in the Haut-Marais for over a decade. In the meantime, she welcomes us into her Parisian studio, adorned with its colorful universe, to talk about her work, her love for patterns, the notebook that never leaves her side where she deposits her ideas, and the Linnea Lund pieces she has fallen in love with. Of course, our Edward Cherry Red is one of her favorites!
