My Linnea Lund: Hortense Pontabry

My Linnea Lund: Hortense Pontabry

Every week, we invite a woman or a man from the Linnea Lund community to share their relationship with clothing, their wardrobe, and how they like to mix and match our iconic cashmere pieces. This time, it is Hortense Pontabry, interior architect and co-creator of Miasun, an ultra-light tent that fits in a pocket, who is the #MyLinneaLund woman of the week!

"The best way to predict the future is to create it," is Hortense Pontabry's mantra, and she quickly turned these beautiful words into a magnificent concrete project when she had the brilliant idea of designing a beach tent, as pretty as it is practical, that sets up in a snap. A chic and lightweight alternative to the heavy and bulky umbrellas of our childhood... This bright concept was soon patented by this young interior architect, who graduated from the Milan Institute of Design before embarking on extensive luxury hotel projects in the French Alps. That's how Miasun was born, and it has already been five years. Since then, her ultra-light tent, made in France and marketed by the brand Fatboy, has been seen on beaches worldwide...

And Hortense travels the world thanks to the Miasun adventure. Her escapades have taught her one thing: travel light. In her suitcase are timeless and comfortable pieces that take up little space! And when the adventure leads her to Paris to stroll around her Marais neighborhood, a pair of raw jeans, a trench coat, and sneakers are just perfect! Less is more is also a golden rule for Hortense, who knows how to surround herself with few things. At her home, objects are rare and are beautiful finds that sometimes took a long time to discover, giving them an extra soul and a certain sentimental value. Like this artwork sprinkled with black fragments, found at the Amélie Maison d'Art gallery, which she fell in love with.

As the autumn chill settled in Paris, Hortense warmly opened the doors of her duplex and then her wardrobe filled with cream and nude tones. That day, she chose to wear our Nathalie turtleneck sweater in Khaki to talk to us about Miasun, the objects she cherishes, and the Linnea Lund pieces she loves so much.

- How would you define your style?
Since I travel a lot for Miasun, my style is very compact and rather classic.

- What is your favorite color in the Linnea Lund palette?
All the shades of nude, but also cream tones, whites, beiges, and grays.

- In your eyes, what objects represent Sweden?
Sweden symbolizes my family because my two nephews, Anton and Linnea, are Swedish, and it especially reminds me of the good times spent together with the art of Fika (the "coffee break" in Sweden).

- What is your favorite piece in your wardrobe or apartment?
It's my grandmother's watch from the 1950s, very Art Deco and timeless at the same time. And my Viltier ring, which I bought to celebrate Miasun's success.

- If I say cashmere, what do you think of?
For me, cashmere rhymes with winter.
